How to receive purchase orders into Shopify inventory after Stocky

Receiving is the step where a purchase order becomes real stock: the delivery shows up, you check what actually arrived, and your inventory goes up. Shopify won’t do this on its own — and with Stocky shutting down on August 31, 2026, the app that used to handle it is going away.

Here’s how receiving works, and how to do it cleanly after Stocky.

Why receiving needs more than a stock adjustment

You could just bump the inventory number in Shopify by hand when a box arrives. The problem: nothing links that change to the order you placed. You lose the trail of what you ordered vs. what came in, whether a supplier short-shipped you, and what you still owe money for. Proper receiving keeps the purchase order and the stock movement tied together.

Partial vs. full receiving

Real deliveries rarely arrive complete. Good receiving handles both:

• Full receipt: everything on the PO arrived — mark it received in one go, inventory updates for all lines.
• Partial receipt: only some units or some lines came in. You record exactly what arrived; the PO stays partially received and remembers what’s still outstanding for the next delivery.

This is exactly what the native Shopify purchase order gap leaves out.

How receiving works in Reorda

1. Open the purchase order when the delivery arrives.
2. Enter how many of each line came in — all of it, or just what showed up.
