How to use barcode scanners for Shopify purchase orders & stocktakes
Reorda supports compatible USB or Bluetooth scanners that behave as keyboards. Focus the scan field, scan a product’s barcode, and check the matched item and quantity before confirming receiving or a stocktake.
Configure the scanner
Pair the device in keyboard/HID mode according to its manual. Configure an Enter suffix if required. Test one known barcode in a plain text field first: the scanner should type the complete code and submit it once. Scanner modes intended exclusively for Shopify POS may not send keyboard input to an embedded Admin app.
Match the right product
Reorda looks up the scanned identifier against catalog barcode or SKU fields. Missing or duplicate identifiers need attention; do not treat a scan as proof that the correct variant was received. Label condition, device configuration and catalog quality affect results.
Camera scanning is a separate capability
Reorda does not currently support phone-camera scanning. Shopify does provide an App Bridge Scanner API for supported mobile contexts, so camera scanning is not universally impossible in Shopify apps. Browser and device support differ; our supported Reorda workflow uses a compatible keyboard-mode scanner.
Receiving and stocktake checks
A scan increments a proposed received or counted quantity. Review the order, location and quantity before applying the change to live inventory. Test a short batch before committing a full shipment. We do not publish measured speed or damaged-label accuracy benchmarks because results depend on the scanner and conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use my phone camera in Reorda?
Not currently. Reorda supports compatible USB/Bluetooth keyboard-mode scanners. Shopify’s platform separately provides a mobile Scanner API in supported contexts.
How should I configure a scanner?
Use keyboard/HID mode and an Enter suffix where required. Test a known barcode and make sure the scan field has focus.
Will any Bluetooth scanner work?
Compatibility depends on its mode, device and operating system. A POS-specific connection may not type into Reorda’s fields; verify keyboard-mode input before purchasing or deploying hardware.
Migrating off Stocky?
Reorda rebuilds your supplier database automatically from your purchase order history, the one thing Stocky never let you export. $19/month flat, 14-day free trial.
